4th of July fReAkfAcToR tip cuz I know my freak brothers are hittin it today. If ur running out of weight to kill...then kill reps. Pyramid up in reps instead of weight. This still is takin a weight and doin it as many times as u can..but increasing the mininum reps of every set...so if ur doin low reps..u wld do 10-12-15 or high..u wld do 15-20-30(example). Basic Ff protocol still applies...just ur going up in reps every set...while the weight stays the same. U go up in weight from session to session accordingly but u much achieve the mininum reps every set...pick ur weights wisely and if u fail to meet the mininum...weight stays the same til u overshoot that mininum...now go mUtAtE

Ok, now I'm pretty sure any lifter knows about supplements and there's a lot of them out there that not one person knows which to use. sometimes simple is best when dealing with supplements and if your hardcore lifter you defintely need a fuckin arsenal to help u train harder...using freakfactor! So i'll name off the supps worth using and beneficial to you as well as how to approach your own diet. 










The stack that football players use is....weight gainer and creatine. Weight Gainer is an athlete's best friend. The stuff works to put on muscle weight fast since it's protein and creatine serves to give you strength and lean muscle that you need. With these two together, a hardcore lifter would add size quickly. Protein is the muscle-builder and you need this stuff, especially after your workout. Reason? Because after you workout, your body needs the protein to heal up and get ready for the next workout. If it doesn't get it in time or at all, it will feed on either body fat (big guys) and/or your own muscles (smaller or leaner guys). If it feeds off of your muscles, then your recovery time will slow down and by the time you workout again, you could be still in pain, because your body hasn't healed yet. Also when your training your expending alot of calories and carbs..a weight gainer is best to replenshing those lost traits after a training session and recovering. i even recommend takin regular whey protein before bed and a weight gainer post workout You must get in a protein or a weight gainer 1-2 times daily depending on how your body responds. And that's another thing, you have to listen and watch your body. The more you know about it, the more you'll learn how it works. I also recommend taking creatine pre and post workout as your body can use it in that time frame the most effectively. most of your pre workouts now like JACK3D have creatine in it that will serve to benefit you greatly and products like FUSION BODYBUILDING's purple k work pre and post workout. i've experimented with takin a pre-workout plus creatine pre workout to make the pre-workout work more effectively and its work. gotta load up the water BIG TIME and pound a carb-like drink like karbolyn, blox, or my fav...USPLABS modern BCAA during your workout. the results are amazing and strength and size gains are worth it.

FUCK 'EM. they weren't in the first place. they should be at your side and not behind u waitin to catch u when u fail. be prepared to walk alone if u have to but u won't. have the guts to do what u want and not be fuckin afraid to live. when u attack things in life with intensity and passion...your resolve won't be changed or broken..win or lose...that won't die.

"perception is reality"...i've heard this time and time again...in and out of my gym. and its true...but the part that is bullshit is that its enforced by "other people" or the voices of petty human, bitches, haters, etc...they fuckin create that perception and develops into reality that changes your reality as an animal...

fuck that! YOU control that perception...so change it! you control what their reality is cause in the end, we are the dominate species...not them! i'm not saying listen to the haters, use it as fuel to change that fuckin perception. nuthin feels better than makin a jackass out of all of them without so much as a word from you. real men of strength show their strength thru their actions not words. do that. allow them to think one way about you. you work on what's real, changing that fuckin perception cause you cannot deny what reality is. it is what is is. i heard another quote from a movie:
"perception is reality. i chose to create mine and others chose to accept it"

is this true. yes. you have to chose to create that perception. the other part is not true. actions can speak so loud that others CANNOT deny it. others WILL accept it. if they don't, they can't deal with reality. PERIOD! so take this one in stride. be wary of what you say to the next person...cause you never know when they plan on changing your fuckin perception and making reality undeniable. cause in this game whether its bodybuilding, powerlifting, strongman, MMA, etc...you don't earn respect these days...you fuckin take it!

many times before i relate a lot of what i deal with thru anime...this is no different. vegeta...the prince of all saiyan...the strongest until he was beaten and was shown that he wasn't as strong as he thought. all he could ask himself was how in the hell could someone "beneath him" be stronger than him. it was even worse when he became a super saiyan and vegeta hadn't. i can relate to this part. all he could ask himself again was how in the hell could not become a super saiyan. it was his birthright. it was his destiny his and his alone. so he trained and trained til he bled and sweat and still nothing. it was driving him to the brink of madness and will to resort to extreme measures....and then he becomes a super saiyan...but he also uttered the words..."i don't care"...

intensity & passion


back in 2008..i walked into golds gym in birmingham, alabama. i haven't been there alot so when i do go there its a treat or really a chance for me to see some freaks and monsters. when i walk into a gym i automatically scan about the place lookin for that one person walkin..pacin...like a caged animal...training with some intensity and passion. its rare for me to see it but this day i saw it...there was a guy near the dumbbell rack who was walkin with a fuckin purpose. there was intensity and passion in every footstep from the db rack to his bench and back. no energy was wasted. after talkin with him...found out he was gettin ready for his first show. within minutes...realized he wanted something more than just bein a competitor...he wanted to be a pro. ever since that day...we've stayed in contact like brothers pushin one another.

old school motivation...ROGER ESTEP...a beast in the squats...having done 810 in training raw at 203...was a bodybuilder and a powerlifter...he also benched near 500 and near 750 raw dead.



as u can see he was no fuckin slouch when it came to training. below was the squat program he learned from george frenn(another monster squatter). in the coming weeks i will be experimenting with this to see how it works combined with Ff methods...til then...take a look and give it a try if u dare...

tHe fReAk fAcToR method: high intensity sets

here's another method u can throw into your FF training. remember dorian yates way of HIT? this is exactly what it is but with a bit of a twist. remember don't knock HIT..it has ways of building muscle size AND strength as well. TIME UNDER TENSION remember? throw this in one exercise per bodypart. good way to change up from the fst-7 modification that was first introduced to you in the original post. if u haven't seen it...view it first: tHe fReAk fAcToR method




here's how to do it. its 4 sets total. 3 sets of 12 done HIT style with the weight goin up every set BUT NOT overshooting the reps every set...the goal is to concentrate on the 2 sec pause and 2 second ascent and explosion back to contracted position. on the final set is what i call a HIGH INTENSITY REST PAUSE(HRP) where your minimal reps is 12. sounds familiar? all we did was add in the use of HIT every set. u can use this as a pre-exhaust as well. make sure your reps are slow and controlled...2 seconds PAUSED...3 seconds down...with an explosion back to contracted position.

As I sit here and look back on the Michalik era, it is not difficult to understand why I would subject myself to such torture. My perseverance stemmed from wanting to win, the will to become a champion. We all have it buried somewhere within us. We all have the desire to accomplish goals. Sometimes we make excuses for our shortcomings. But, there are no excuses. A champion is a champion, and will never succumb to the obstacles that are thrown in his path.

fReAk fAcToR method: Rep Cycling

First...if you haven't done so..please read on what the freakfactor method is all about:
tHefReAk fAcToR method

Every three weeks...cycle your reps. Meaning cycle the mininum reps on each exercise week to week but do it in this fashion.
week one @ 12 reps mininum
week two @ 10 reps mininum
week three @ 15 reps mininum
week four @ 8 reps mininum
Or
week one @ 15 reps mininum
week three @ 10 reps mininum
week five @ 12 reps mininum
the idea here is to NOT let your body adjust to a certain rep mininum. This will keep you constantly growing and gettin stronger. Of course if your a powerlifter this sans the big 3. Here's one for the BIG 3..
week one- 1@5+ 1@4. 1@3+
week three- 1@4+ 1@3 1@2+
week five- 1@6+ 1@5 1@4+
Give this a go. This amps up the muscle confusion and keeps from hittin that wall...

Intensity Or Insanity, Part 2 By J. Defendis

When Michalik trained, the fires of hell burned in his eyes. The man was an animal. I lived each waking moment anticipating the ass kickin' workouts that lay ahead that day and wondering how in hell I would be able to overcome them. I lived by a quote from Friedrich Nietzsche: "That which will not kill you will only make you stronger."
The key was to figure out how to survive and even thrive and grow on these workouts. It wasn't easy at first, but I was determined not to quit. I wanted to win the U.S.A. and claim a spot in the record books. I was not looking to be fit. I wanted to be the best. If you want to be a champion you have to make sacrifices. Michalik was not only a champion but he was the Vince Lombardi of bodybuilding. Win at any cost. Winning meant everything. He would always say, "Train beyond the pain... and death is your only release!"

It was a hot sunny day in the summer of 1979 and we just finished a brutal 55-set leg workout. Yes, that's right. 55 sets. It may sound stupid today and you may think that it was overtraining but at 20 years old, I was sporting 28 1/2" ripped-to-the-bone quads. Big, thick, muscular thighs at a time when Bill Phillips probably couldn't even pronounce the word "creatine" and way before I ever heard the words "growth hormone." Makes you think about training harder in the present era of IGF-1, insulin, and growth hormone.

Intensity Or Insanity, Part 1 By J. Defendis

It was 1977. Richard Dreyfuss won the award for best actor, the New York Yankees won the World Series, bread was only thirty five cents a loaf, and little 18 year old John DeFendis was learning the most masochistic style of training in his quest to becoming a champion bodybuilder. You see, I was that teenager who had trained for 8 years and competed on nine separate occasions without ever taking home a trophy. In my determination to excel, I happened to make a decision that would greatly affect the next fifteen years of my life. I chose to train with Mr. America, Steve Michalik.

It all started one day when I decided to take a trip to the gym where all the so-called "champions" trained, Mr. America's Gym. This was not your ordinary family fitness center. The walls were painted jet black and the equipment was red, reminiscent of an old gothic torture chamber. There was a two foot syringe on the wall over the front desk mounted on a plaque that read, "Message Of The Day: Up The Dosage!" The daily sign in sheet was also accompanied by yet another syringe with a pen inserted through it, for sign-in purposes.

I walked in and asked to speak to Mr. America himself. This was my first mistake. Steve Michalik was not your typical gym owner. He didn't care about the business, nor did he care about hurting anyone's feelings. As a matter of fact, Steve Michalik really didn't care about much of anything except training. Now I don't mean training as it is referred to by mere mortals. No this type of training had a whole new meaning. After all, Steve's motto was "Train beyond the pain... and death is your only release."

....there was a comic done on this about 2 years ago. spiderman was bein hunted down by a vampire that was stronger and ruthless than him. he had help last time facin this guy but this time around he was solo. this guy smelled his fear of him and toyed with him until the time came to kill spiderman and when the time came, boy did spidey get his ass handed to him and then some. but something happened, he released his totemic powers of the spider and was able to overcome his foe but at the cost of his life. he was reborn only after embracing "the other" as apart of him now. prior to this, to be reborn, the hunted ate his prey to evolve to become a man...but was it one or the other...spidey chose to embrace who he really was...who he was becoming...

i admit. when i walked onto this path i did it because i thought i would be easy. no lie. i embarked on this path because strength is what motivated me in the gym. along the way i found out that it wasn't easy but strength bein the motivator..i couldn't stop. it had reached a point where it was an addiction and then a way of life for me. i realized that there are no shortcuts and i'm willing to do what it takes. but i feel to the lies and deception of those who were really holding me back. no longer.

" to become unstoppable you have to always challenge yourself to becoming the strongest...how do you do that? by facing the strongest..its not how many victories or losses...its how many of them made you stronger.."

what still is an addiction has evolved to borderline psycho obsession especially when your own sanity and pride are all that remains. my sole existence does many things to many people...it pisses them off or it motivates them but mostly it does one thing..it upsets the balance. i realize that what my existence does. by doin that i create many enemies and few brothers. i'm proud that i'm not normal as my parents wanted me to be. normal is safe...secure..and sure. many manipulate it and even bet on it. doin just enough to get by or goin thru the shortcut is what bein normal is all about. for me and the few that understand, we plan on upsetting that balance. we aren't sheep...but wolves. we endured a surmountable amount of pain and suffering because of this "balance". it had made me an individual representing chaos. and i found others who also represent chaos...and are bent on doin the same..

hard work or hardly workin

first..take a look at something i found to be interesting...when u look at this look at the dates of some of these records...even take a second look if you have to...





ok..did you see it? some of these records have been standing for damn near over 30 years...why is that right? i mean if the training methods of powerlifters are soo much better why are THESE records in particular still standin? then i go back to the countless texts and emails of having to explain why i train the way i train...and why i'm not doin singles..doubles...etc and why all the accessory work etc. remember the routines in plusa? the ones i did were loaded with volume...a late old friend of mine, nick winters, once texted me bill kazmaier's bench and dead and FUCK!! it was a LOT OF VOLUME and high reps...ed coan..same way...so was doug young. yet these guys look like they could do both sports...



so why is THAT way of training taboo to a powerlifter? one reason is PRIDE. lifters like knowing that they can do something in the gym ahead of the meet. the like hittin PRs with singles and doubles...some accessory work and callin it a day. here's some fuckin reality. GYM lifts don't fuckin matter...cuz that's all they are. so what u do a 400 bench in training...if u only get 355 in a meet...what does that tell ya about that particular PR? it holds no merit. i've seen geared lifters(sans chains and bands) take a weight and barely touch or barely hit parallel. what's the point? another fuckin point is CNS. it gets burned on these days and it fucks up everything else for the rest of the week unless your takin a week off or doin a deload. in all the meets i've done i've never done more than what i could in competition in training. did 550 touch and go raw sure but didn't do shit for me when i only got a 455 opener and missed 500. another thing i see is guys gettin down on themselves when they see someone bench 900 in a shirt and they are only doin 400 raw. can't compare these two. but i see this alot.


another reason...laziness. like i mentioned before..its easier to do singles...a few accessory movements and calling it a day. i trained with lifters that did just that while i wanted to fuckin work. there are no fuckin off days in training. when i get done with squats...hell the session just fuckin started for me and i got more work to do. when i look at logs of other lifters i see the lack of attention to the weak muscles they have on the BIG 3. makes sense to kill the hamstrings if they are quakin like a leaf on your deads. makes sense to hammer the back when ur unable to control the shakes on the bench. its not bodybuilding..its fuckin training. every muscle becomin stronger..makes YOU stronger. that's what the guys who have been holdin these records for 30+ years did...what makes us fuckin too good to work as hard if not harder than them? it doesn't. its basically not willin to do what it fuckin take to get the job done. its "hoping" that this is enough and when its not..make excuses...its better when someone shows u how to train..what do to do..how to do it..set by set..rep by rep...thus gettin comfortable and hard work is taboo...

hence another reason..lifters are tryin to train like OTHER LIFTERS in some way. if this lifter did this..then it should work for me too..so they become robots..hence why things like high reps..high volume are taboo cause todays lifters don't do it. no matter the program or who wrote it..if your not workin hard...your gonna get out worked and out lifted. that is what strength training is all about...hard fuckin work. FUCK THE NUMBERS. just kill whatever is on the fuckin bar. period. take your fuckin head...remove it from your ass and do work. BOY.

here's my point with this. FUCKIN WORK! period. there is no substitute for this whether your raw or geared. work your ass off and not just on the BIG 3. its called strength training not strength TESTING. if your always TESTING your not getting STRONGER. don't fuckin fool yourself. you hit the plateau faster and harder and alot of it is PURE FUCKIN EGO! fuckin do some reps...ooh wait..that's work and not the way to get stronger...huh? tell bill kazmaier or ed coan that...i mean since ur better than them and all. i mean this shit pisses me off on how lifters think their way of training is better since the person tellin them their way is better holds a few records in A WEIGHT class...whoopie fuckin do! remove the ego and do fuckin work.


i remember doin bill gillespie's bench routine and yea i know he used gear BUT the amount of volume in that program was sick..it made u fuckin work for every rep and every plate loaded onto the bar. my bench went up FAST no question. what's wrong with this concept? this is what powerlifters back in the 70s and 80s did BEFORE westside barbell methods...531...etc...it was just basic periodization with some sort of high volume assistant work cause the name of the game is still gettin bigger and gettin stronger.



out of all this..i believe FOR sure its one thing..and agree to disagree...its the desire to want to get results quickly just like planet fitness advertises. wanna bench big? u can go raw or you can get a bench shirt and work less. i will give credit in strongman and bodybuilding...there are no shortcuts to the pro ranks and its not fuckin easy. u have to have IT inside you or u fuckin don't. powerlifting unfortunately is different. back in the old school days...there was ONLY ONE way of lifting...belt and wraps. it was POWERLIFTING. not raw..not equipped...POWERLIFTING. that was it. now there are different parts of the sport and so many feds so its easier to get a record..or be ranked higher...or be #1 in this fed...hence the desire for hardwork and heart to bleed and sweat is gone. hell u have no count "boys" who do a few geared meets then think they are the next coming of a badass lifter and haven't had the balls to go balls out in training.

and its not just powerlifters..there are other lifters..out there they are halfassin their training. "yea i got a good pump"..so what the fuck ever. if your not at the point where ur about to keel over or vomit..you haven't fuckin trained at all. i've seen lifters "play" with weight in the gym and not take shit serious. they are playin games. simple as that. this shit ain't a game so don't play like it is.



we've lost sight of the basics..hard work. THAT'S WHERE U PAY YOUR FUCKIN DUES and THAT'S THE FUN PART! u should be willing to work your ass off to get stronger. period. its the only thing i've noticed with these lifters that STILL hold those records fuckin busted their asses. there was no easy way out for them and how they trained was kinda hybrid...bodybuilding and powerlifting. some of the toughest routines i've done came from the era of these lifters. geez..i wonder why? did they want it more than today's lifters? were they more hungry? HELL YEA! u don't like that answer..too fuckin bad. when i watch a lifters' vid...all i see is lifting. what i don't see is the hunger and desire. diggin deep occurs in training not on the platform. u have to work your ass off day in and day out.


Quit all these halfassin training and callin it gettin stronger...and do some work. fuckin bleed...sweat and bleed some more and if u fuckin vomit..FUCKIN GOOD. fuckin go all out...train hard..train heavy..get intense. break away from what the "right way" is...erase limits and just fuckin lift. i admire how matt kroc trains..he went all out every session. left no doubt that he was fuckin ready for the platform..not by the weight he lifted but by the amount of hardwork and desire he had training. that's what we are supposed to fuckin do. if u have to take max attempts all fuckin day of every fuckin week...your not ready. you won't be. push yourself hard and harder in some fuckin way day in and day out.. someone will out work you and out lift you. see this vid below...and u know why matt kroc was never out worked or out lifted by anyone on the platform..





yes..he vomited in the end. it was awesome. that's intensity. that's hunger. that's desire. wake the fuck up and get your ass in the game and fuckin show the same shit or get out..get the fuck out now. i love it how lifters will make a "copout" for lack of intensity or hardwork. "i train in gear" or "this is how i train"...etc...pure excuses. your not workin..u bet your ass someone else out there is. your training sessions should be war...not a demonstration of how strong u are. its simple if your aint working..your not growing..your not gettin stronger and your ass is gonna be waxed in competition. i'm not talkin about 20 exercises or 5..just fuckin work. quit playing around and do some work. have u ever see how hard branch warren trains? there isn't a quit or give button with him. yes..i know he's a bodybuilder..but here's another example below:



so its simple...are u workin hard or hardly workin? hard work in the gym leads to resutls on the platform that speak for themselves..mentally and physically. why worry about preparing when your already ready for war? u put yourself thru hell in training to leave no question when its your time to dominate. its that simple and that's what everyone of those lifters who STILL hold records today have done. i will leave u with a doug young vid...no other words necessary.
